Liangshan International Short-vid. Competition kicks off, promoting prefecture’s voice to be heard worldwide

Jointly hosted by the School of Journalism and Communication of Beijing Normal University, Sichuan Daily Press Group and the Publicity Department of the People’s Government of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Liangshan International Short-vid. Competition kicked off on Aug. 20th in Huili City of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, curtaining on the call to make Liangshan’s voice heard worldwide.

The gist of the competition was on the training and guidance of youths’ skills in new media, in which using new media methods including short-video production were presented on scene to promote the rural revitalization of Liangshan Prefecture, thus indicating the accomplishments of Liangshan Prefecture in terms of economic and social development, culture inheriting, establishment of ecological civilization, development of ethnical unity and improvements of people’s well-beings. Myriads of story-telling topics catering to Chinese values were presented as well, such as personal featuring stories, beautiful landscapes of Liangshan Prefecture and the local special food.

“Sichuan InternationalCommunication Center (SICC) is focusing on gathering a task of professional crews to actively engage in new media productions to promote the Liangshan Prefecture and the city of Huili worldwide,” said from the charger of Sichuan Daily.He then added that SICC is aiming to “tell Sichuan story well and promote the voice of China.” With a combination of communication methods of “mobile communication, social communicationand videocommunication”, SICC is focusing on “building up international social media matrix, strengthening the ties with international media, trail blazing the ways of international cooperation, promoting Sichuan’s international image and honing international communication skills.

The headmaster of the School of Journalism and Communication of BNU, Zhang Hongzhong noted that they were about to invite youths from the prefecture to film series of documentaries along with their counterparts in Beijing and Shanghai, to jointly spread the stories of Liangshan, Sichuan Province and Chinathrough online platforms.

Liu Ruochen, Deputy Minister of the PublicityDepartment of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture expressed his hope of the competition to show the great changes that havetaken place in the prefecture over the past 70 years, showing the huge social and economic improvementsof LiangshanPrefecture.

According to the official guidelines, the competition was planning to invite students both domestic and abroad to join in its filming plans to hone the skills of short-video making and promoting. The superior videos were able to be sent to film awards both home and abroad for reviews and the talents would be recommended to first-tier internet companies.
